Emergency Action Plan & Safety Protocols

Venue:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park Athletic Indoor Fields

Injury Situations:  The facility staff and associated coaching staff will assess the athlete and determine if the injury is life threatening. 

Life Threatening Injury:  Designated representative will activate EMS by dialing 911 from cell phone.  The AED is mounted on the wall in the hallway of the masonry building.  Facility and Coaching Staff and the Athletic Trainer (if available) will remain with the athlete.  The Designated representative will meet and greet EMS at the facility main entrance or chosen air lock.  The athlete will then be transported to the most appropriate emergency department, and the parents will be notified.

Non-Life-Threatening Injury:  The athlete will be assisted by the Facility and Coaching Staff if he/she cannot leave on his/her own.  When available, the Certified Athletic Trainer will determine the level of care needed for the athlete.  In the absence of the Athletic Trainer, the supervising coach or facility staff will administer prudent first responder care.  The athlete’s parents will be notified if needed.

Venue Supplies and Equipment:  The facility has an ice machine in the café with bags to make appropriately sized ice bags.  There is a first aid kit in the main office.  The AED is mounted on the wall in the entrance hallway.

Facility Inspection and Maintenance: Establish a routine inspection schedule for facilities, equipment, and amenities.  Promptly address any hazards or maintenance issues identified during inspections.  Keep records of inspections and maintenance activities.

Staff Training:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park provides comprehensive training to all staff members on safety procedures, emergency response, and customer service.  We ensure staff are trained in first aid and CPR. We regularly refresh training to keep skills up-to-date including safe sport, concussion protocol and risk management.

Equipment Safety:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park regularly inspect and maintain all equipment to ensure it meets safety standards.  Provide proper instruction on equipment usage and enforce the use of safety gear.  Establish protocols for reporting any malfunctioning equipment and remove it from service until repaired.

Sanitation and Hygiene:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park maintains clean and sanitary facilities, including restrooms, changing rooms, and common areas.  Provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility.  Enforce proper hygiene practices among guests and staff, including regular handwashing.

Weather Monitoring and Safety Protocols:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park monitor weather conditions regularly, both indoor and outdoor. We have wind sensors and snow sensors to determine the safety in our air structure.  Establish protocols for inclement weather, including evacuation procedures for outdoor areas.  Educate guests and staff on weather-related risks and safety precautions.

Incident Reporting and Investigations:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park implement a system for reporting incidents and near-misses.  Investigate all incidents thoroughly to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.  Use incident data to continuously improve safety protocols and procedures.

Security Measures:  Glacier Ridge Sports Park implements security measures such as surveillance cameras and access control systems.  Conduct periodic security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and address them promptly.  Train staff in recognizing and responding to security threats.
